Qualifications

Hi, I'm Michelle Kinny. As a dancer and rock climber, I have experienced a variety of injuries throughout the years and chose to use Pilates to help with the healing process through managing pain and balancing the body. I am certified through STOTT PILATES®, a contemporary style of Pilates, and specialize in Pilates for those with scoliosis as an Authorized Scolio-Pilates® Practitioner.

Drawing upon my extensive dance and movement background, I give well-rounded full-bodied sessions with a sense of humor and lightheartedness.  I enjoy motivating people through appropriately challenging exercises, using symbiosis of mind and body to help individuals reach their goals whether it be rehabilitation or fitness. While working with people of all different ages and abilities, I encourage individuals to find wellness; improving strength, alignment, and awareness through movement education. I appreciate and embrace everyone’s differences in anatomy, personality, and learning style; therefore designing  sessions tailored for the individual, which allows for optimal progression.

My unique experience enables me to work with a broad range of populations, including those with injuries and special needs such as scoliosis, pre- and post-natal, osteoporosis, knee and hip replacements, spinal fusions, disk herniations, labral tears, thoracic outlet syndrome, arthritis, and chronic low back pain. Having a special interest in scoliosis, I am passionate about helping adults and children through the Scolio-Pilates® method. With a focus on elongation, breath, and strengthening individuals with scoliosis can live active lives through improvements in pain, posture, and function.

After teaching Pilates for 15 years, working in multiple studios in San Francisco and Boulder, I am thrilled to have founded MK Pilates. I am a passionate learner and prioritize continuing education. Whether you are looking for rehabilitation or a vigorous workout, I am excited to work with you.
